Tbilisi Institute of Global Health

Advancing Global Health through Education, Research & Practice

The Institute of Global Health in Tbilisi, Georgia is a professional association with the mission to promote global health through novel approaches. Functioning as a network of partners, we implement projects at the country, regional and global levels. These pioneering initiatives contribute to advancing global health education, research and practice.

Global Health Training in Georgia

We published the first-ever Georgian Textbook of Global Health and helped develop training course curriculum, which has been integrated into public health graduate programs.

In collaboration with Georgian and International academic partners we convene global health seasonal schools for Georgian public health students and practitioners.

Global Health Training in the Eastern Europe/Central Asia Region

We pioneered regional trainings on global health in the Eastern Europe/Central Asia region. In addition to convening regional seasonal schools on major global health issues, we are currently building a new training program that overviews interactions between globalization and health with the explicit focus on EECA countries.

Integrating Experiential Learning into Global Health Training through Virtual Reality Technology

We developed a training module on Ebola based on virtual reality technology. VR helps integrate experiential learning into global health curricula by bringing real-life field scenarios into the classroom. Students are immersed in interactive simulated environment and can perform practical tasks. Please check back soon for results of the study to test its effects on improving training outcomes.
